Adaptive SCUBA

About 15% of people are classified as handicapped by accident or disease. Many of them can dive. We teach to Handicapped Scuba Association Physical Performance Standards and a multilevel certification system that covers paraplegia, quadriplegia, blindness, and high-functioning brain injury.

HSA levels

How levels work

Proficiency is based on your ability to assist another diver.

  • Level A — certified to dive with one other person
  • Level B — dive with two able-bodied divers
  • Level C — two buddies, and one of them must be rescue-trained
  • The extra buddy on B and C is there for the A-level (or above) diver that a B or C diver cannot assist
  • Marine life ID: describe and identify one form on each of five certifying dives

Prerequisites

Completed medical questionnaire. Minimum age 12. Level A, B, and C divers can continue to Advanced after Open Water.
